Amos Edward
Schrock, Jr. (Ed)
February 27, 1953 – May 9, 2025
Amos Edward Schrock, Jr. "Ed", born on February 27, 1953, passed away peacefully at his home in Gladys, Virginia on May 9, 2025 and is now at rest with his Lord. He was preceded in death by his father, Amos Edward Schrock, Sr. and mother, Lydia Irene Zook Schrock; his beloved mother, Lydia Irene Zook Schrock; his beloved brother, Paul and two nephews.
A man of many talents, Ed was best known for his deep-rooted knowledge of tractors and farming equipment, beginning at age 16. He had a gift for diagnosing mechanical issues with uncanny accuracy – often without even lifting a wrench – and his advice was sought after by friends, farmers, and neighbors alike.
Beyond the fields, Ed had a true passion for tractor pulling. He spent countless hours modifying and fine-turning international Harvester tractors into competition – tractors into competition-ready powerhouses as well as hosting pulling events at the family farm. It wasn't just a hobby – it was a part of who he was.
Ed also shared a deep love for Boston Terriers with his wife, Michelle. Together, they bred and raised many litters over the years, and Ed's own pups – Gigi, Pearl, Pooter, Sandy Pearl, and Louise – were rarely far from his side, tagging along on job sites and bringing joy wherever they went.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle, and his children, Bonnie Hamlett (Ronnie), Cindy Summy (Kevin), Vicky Fowler (Judy), Larry Schrock (Lizzy), and Andy Schrock; step-daughter, Nicole Miller (Sheldon); and step-son, Rick Nichols; his brothers, Mark and Titus; his sisters, Barbara, Janie, Esther, and Lydia; his stepmother, Susie; and five step siblings; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was a proud grandfather to Cody, Brooke, Alia, Landon, Carter, Jack, Austin, Hayden, Carly, Colton, Damon, Melinda, Sky, Brealyn, Lily, Kaydrean, and Serenity. His legacy also lives on in his great-grandchildren, Iris, Isla, Hazel, and one more precious little one on the way.
Ed's family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Ed's friend and employee Filmore, who assisted and supported him at the shop, job sites and by his beside when needed. In addition, the family sends gratitude to Duke Hospital's Kevin Cox, NP and his hospice nurses Molly, Jill, and Tiara for ongoing love and care given to Ed in his final months.
In memory of Ed's last tractor pull to the graveside service, the family encourages attendees to wear red, black, or your favorite tractor colors to the funeral.
