Bernice Dews, age 84 of Appomattox, passed away on November 6, 2023 in Appomattox. She was the daughter of the late Walter Dews and Sallie Davis Dews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sterling Dews and Elmo Dews; four sisters, Beatrice Dews, Roxie Malone, Lena Haskins and Edna King; and also, her favorite nephew, Willie Malone.

Niecey joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age and attended as her health allowed.  Before her health declined, she enjoyed reading, watching her shows and talking on the phone with family and friends.  If you wanted to keep up with what was going on in the family and community, Niecey was the "go-to" person she didn't even have to leave the house.  Her catch phrase was always "show nuff" when she was confirming what you said.  Niecey was known for her love of food especially Moore's Country Store Hot Dogs.  Anyone who visited her knew it would make her day if you took her a couple of hot dogs.

Niecey leaves behind a great number of nieces, nephews, and relatives and a close friend and roommate, Mrs. Mays (Appomattox Health and Rehab).
