Mrs. Betsand Leona Johnson Elam, age 85 of Brookneal, passed away on October 26, 2023 in Altavista. She was the daughter of the late Paul Henry Johnson and Elsie Serrell Hunt Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter, Wanda Gayle Elam.

She is survived by her sons, James Alfred Elam, Jr. (Carolyn), and Ronnie Dale Elam, both of Brookneal; precious granddaughter, LaKeisha Elam of Brookneal; grandchildren and great grandchildren; five brothers, Walter Johnson (Roberta) of Brookneal, Van R. Johnson of Gladys, Leroy Johnson (Wanda) of Halifax, Harry E. Johnson (Annie) of Nathalie, and John Paul Johnson (Darlene) of Vinton; sister, Florence E. Johnson of Forest; brother-in-law, John Elam of Brookneal; an aunt of Ayers, Massachusetts; and a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
