Bruce Earl Jackson was born in Halifax County, Virginia on June 28, 1949 to the late Evangelist Shirley Jackson of Nathalie, Virginia and the late James Obie Jackson, he was the first born of four. He attended elementary school in Virginia and attended a special education school in Maryland.  Bruce was affectionately known as "Earl" and he was born a very special person.  In his earlier years, Earl worked at the local grocery store while simultaneously a dedicated member of the usher board wherever he attended church.

After relocating to Virginia with his mother, he began faithfully serving on the usher board at Brown's Memorial COGIC, and then later at New Second Buffalo Baptist Church in Nathalie.  He also served faithfully at the food bank of Ellis Creek Baptist Church which was founded by his mother.  He was right by her side, ensuring all boxes were packed and given to the community for seven years. He always served, and did so with a smile.  Earl was a very dedicated person and received many accolades and trophies thanking him for his service. His favorite pastime was watching sports, movies, and taking long walks.

Earl lived his life with simplicity--he was cared for by his mother up until her death and then his sister Net took over providing great care and love for him until he took his last breath.  He was deeply cared for and he was loved by so many.

He leaves to morn his siblings, Franklin "Rudy" Jackson of Maryland, Annetta Thomas of Virginia, and Donnell Jackson of Maryland, and host of nieces, cousins and friends.
