Mr. Carl Matthew Hamlett, Jr. age 73 of Brookneal, passed away on January 24, 2023 in North Carolina. He was the son of the late Carl Matthew Hamlett, Sr. and Mary Showart Hamlett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pandora Pannell Hamlett; brother, Edward Lewis Hamlett; sister, Lula Mae Hamlett; and brothers-in-law, Steven Alexander Pannell, and Eugene Pannell.

He is survived by children, Earnest M. Hamlett (Khetacqua) of Brookneal and Carl D. Hamlett of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, MaJestic Hamlett of Lynchburg, Shakirah Hamlett and Malaika Canada, both of Brookneal; sisters, Dorothy Walker, Linda Knight, Elizabeth Hamlett and Peggy Hall, all of Brookneal, and Caroline Morton of Richmond; brothers, Willie Hamlett of Richmond and James Hamlett of Brookneal; brothers-in-law, Russell I. Britton and Albert Pannell, both of Charlotte Court House and Bernard Pannell of Brookneal; sisters-in-law, Janet Pannell, Edith Pannell, Vickie Britton, Debbie Hamlett, and Catherine Hamlett, all of Brookneal and Hattie Hamlett of Richmond.
