Carrie Vernelle (Nell) Callaham Burns, 81, passed away peacefully in Gloucester, Virginia on June 12, 2025. Nell was born January 28, 1944, to the late Clarence and Esther Callaham in Bedford County. Nell spent most of her life in Campbell County.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Albert Burns; father, Clarence Robert Callaham Sr.; mother, Esther Marshall (Cheatham) Callaham; brothers, Clarence Jr, William, Rufus, Roosevelt, Collins and Archie; sisters, Hattie Lou, Arnia, Myrtle and Clara.

Nell has left to cherish and carry on her memory, her children, Zina (Anthony) Middleton, Brenda (Darius) Sledge, Ronnie (Gloria) Beharry and Rosa (Sean) Jones; grandchildren, Sean (Kirsa), Dana (Francis), LaToya,KaTisha, LaTore', Brittney, Adrianna (Matthew), Branden and Alessia; great-grandchildren, Keileen, David, Abgail, Amy, Malakyi, Makaylia, Kaniyah, Brycen, Kingston, Kaori and Ty'Ari; sister, Evelyn Earlean Callaham Rudder; sister-in-love, Dorothy Mae Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
