Mrs. Charlene Younger Read, age 59 of Gladys, passed away on March 5, 2025.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. James T. Younger and Mrs. Rosa Arcelia Burks Younger.  She was married to Mr. Howard Read.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janis Hubbard (Jan E B); brother-in-law, Kevin Calloway; and granddaughter, Ja'Meliah Foxx.

She is survived by her husband, Howard, E. Read, 'Tony"; five children, Edwin, Danielle (Kevin), and Lashey Younger, Malike Read, and Dominique Read Waller (Raheem); eleven grandchildren, Osaiyah, Montavion, Isis, Ky'liek, Tavarius, Chavez, Zy'Meriyah,, Amenah, Emoni, Zaria, and A'Liehm (Man); brother, Charles Younger of Naruna; two sisters, Shelby Jennings (William) of Nathalie, Iris Scott (Wallace) of Naruna; uncle, Owen Burks ( Frances); aunt, Molly B. Little; mother-in-love, Hazel Sales of Lynchburg; brothers-in-law, Willie C. Hubbard, Jr. of Nathalie, and Mark Read of Lynchburg; nieces and nephews, Veronica ( Antonio), Nashana, William, Jessica, Derrick, Brandon, Kevin, Crystal (Demetrius), Beatrice, Malcolm, Janiya; and a host of other great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
