Cynthia G Johnson was born on October 29, 1946 to her beloved parents, Geraldine Bailey Jeffress and Irving B. Jeffress, Sr., in Richmond, Virginia. Cynthia lived a life defined by unwavering faith, quiet strength, compassion, dignity, and unconditional love. On July 14, 2026, the Lord peacefully called His faithful servant home, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

From an early age, Cynthia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church in Charlotte Court House, Virginia. Her relationship with God was the cornerstone of her life. She later became a devoted member of Providence Baptist Church, where she faithfully worshipped, grew spiritually, and formed cherished relationships with her pastors, fellow choir members, and church family.

For Cynthia, the importance of education was instilled at an early age by her parents, who were educators. After graduating from Charlotte County Public Schools, she continued her educational pursuits. In 1968, she successfully achieved a bachelor’s degree in business administration with honors from Hampton University. Her academic achievements were recognized through her inclusion in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, reflecting both her intellect and commitment to excellence. She was the Senior Class Sweetheart. In later years, she enjoyed continuing her lifelong friendships with her class of ’68 Hampton Alumni.

Above all else, Cynthia’s legacy will live on through her loving daughters, Kristie L. Johnson, and Rhonda Johnson Midgette (Carlos Midgette); her devoted brother, Irving Bennett Jeffress, Jr.; her beloved stepmother, Delois Jeffress; her cherished sisters, Barbara Joe LaPrade and Valerie Jeffress; her loving life partner, Herman Petion; all who held special places in her heart. Her memory will also be cherished by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends. She treasured relationships, nurtured lifelong friendships, and gave generously of herself to those around her.

Though she departed from this earthly life, her love, faith, wisdom, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
