Mr. David O'Neal Burns, age 63 of Lynchburg, passed away on February 9, 2022, in Lynchburg.  He was the son of the late Calvin Jones Burns and Eunice Cheatham Burns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jesse Burns, Calvin M. Burns, and Johnny Burns; sister, Stella Hamilton; brothers-in-law, Harold Ross, Theodore Gilliam, and Charlie Monroe.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Burns of Gladys; two children, Danielle Burns and Tamara Burns-Mays (William), both of Gladys; three grandchildren, Aariana Lane and Kyra Mays, both of Gladys, and Elijah Younger of Evington; four sisters, Marilyn Hartman of Appomattox, Damaris "Dani" Elliott of Lynchburg Synthia "PuPu" Elliott of Roanoke and Yolanda Burns of Fishersville; two brothers, Michael "Tony" Burns of Lynchburg and Matthew O. Johnson of Koni, Hawaii; mother-in-law, Lula M. Gilliam of Gladys; sisters-in-law, Maude Payne of Brookneal, Bonnie Ghabayen and Belinda Monroe, both of Gladys,  Janie Pannell-Ross of Absecon, NJ and Hazel Pannell of Bronx, NY; brothers-in-law, Jesse Lovelace (Delma) of Bridgewater, William Gilliam (Elizabeth) of Brookneal, Tracy Gilliam of Rustburg and Kenneth Hamilton of Lynchburg; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
