David Thomas Gaines transitioned from this life on April 21, 2020 in Richmond, Virginia. He was the son of the late John and Isabel Gaines of Charlotte Court House, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Willie Gaines, Lewis Gaines, Herbert Gaines; and a sister, Lucy G. Hughes.

David graduated from Central High School in Charlotte Court House, Virginia in 1969. After graduating, he served in the Vietnam War. As a child, he joined Morrison Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte Court House, Virginia. In 1977, he married Katie Y. Gaines of Concord. He united with The St. Luke Baptist Church in Brookneal having served on the Usher Board. He was a member of the Long Mountain Masonic Lodge #204 in Concord. He was an avid Sportsman and Martial Artsman. David enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a truck driver for many years. In his later years, he dedicated his time to Dave's Lawn Care Service. He took pride and joy in serving his customers and friends in the City of Richmond, where he resided. David had an infectious personality that made you laugh and smile. He was a very generous person.

David leaves memories to be cherished by, two daughters, Cynthia Pannell (Jarrod) of Rustburg and CeCelia Gaines of Killeen, TX; grandchildren, Delonte Yuille, Katelyn Yuille, Katrielle, Aryelle Gaines, and Lorenzo Wilson, III; great grandchildren, Gavin and Nolan Yuille; a devoted friend, Wilda Sanderson and her children, Angie and Antwan Sanderson; grandchildren, Ashley Sanderson and Kayla West; a great granddaughter, Kennedi Yancey; siblings, John Gaines (Josephine) of NY, Floyd Gaines (Videssa) of NY, Charles Gaines (Lillian) of Charlotte Court House, Richard Gaines (Stella) of Richmond, Catherine Bishop of Florence, SC and Ella Bolden of NY; former spouse, Katie "Belle" Gaines of Concord; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
