Mrs. Edith Fields Gillespie, age 79 of New York and formerly of Halifax County, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 5, 2020 in Brooklyn, New York.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. Finley Fields and the late Mrs. Sarah Garrett Fields. She was wife of the late Mr. Nathaniel Gillespie, Sr.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mr. James H. Fields.

Edith leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Nathaniel, Jr. of Kinston, NC and Antonio of Brooklyn, NY; two grandchildren, Amber German of Kansas City, MO and Jonathan Hutcherson of Bronx, NY; one great-granddaughter, Acelynn German of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, John L. Fields (Mary) of Bronx, NY and Reverend Finley J. Fields (Gloria) of South Boston, VA.; one aunt, Nettie Bell of St. Albans, NY and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
