Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza Berkley, age 87 of Gladys, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 peacefully at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Mr.  Franklin Armistead and Mrs. Emma Word.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. Linwood Berkley; brothers, James Word and Edward Word; sisters, Margaret Payne, Brenda Word, Mary Word, and Faydene Word.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children, Ray Junior Adams of Red House, Peggy Berkley of New York, Roy Lee Berkley, Shirley L. Berkley, and Maxine Hamlett, all  of Brookneal, Geraldine Berkley of Gladys, Saundra A. Yuille (the late Eric Yuille) of North Carolina, Donald Berkley of Appomattox; grandson that she raised as her own, Randy P. Berkley (Chartrice) of Lynchburg; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; sisters, Meggie Adams and Ada Ghoston (John), both of Brookneal; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
