On Friday, June 6, 2025, Mrs. Elsie Godfrey Hamlett was called into eternal rest at Wayland Nursing Home in Keysville, Virginia.  She was born in Charlotte County, Virginia on December 10, 1933 to the late Sam Haskins and Mattie Bell St. John Haskins. She was married to the late Sandy Hamlett.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Donald; brothers, Harry (Mary), Willie (Tessie), Otis (Joyce); sister, Rosa (Enoch); and stepson, Sandy Hamlett, Jr. (Debra).

Left to cherish precious memories are a loving and devoted sister, Gladys Reid of Phenix; a loyal goddaughter, Lora Hunter (Vincent) of Concord; caring loved ones, Mary Kenner (Fred), Keandra Hunter, Tiffany Saunders, John Reid (Shavonne), L. J. and Leah Reid; and Valerie Hodge; two stepsons, Terry Hamlett (Charlene) and Larry Hamlett (Sherry); and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
