Mrs. Erma Hamlett Moon, age 90 of Gladys, gained her wings on September 26, 2020 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Altavista. She was the wife of the late Mr. William Moon. She was born on November 15, 1929 in Washington D.C. She was the oldest of nine children born to the late Mr. Jessie Ed Hamlett and Mrs. Ellie Nash Hamlett Greenwell. She was the step-daughter of the late Mr. Bennie (B.W.) Greenwell.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Mitchell (Bill) of Gladys; three grandchildren, Neal Mitchell, Rodney Winston, and Jennifer Singleton; five great grandchildren, Tyler Mitchell, Logan and Olivia Singleton, and Emmerson and Lucas Winston; one son-in-law, Spurgeon Sublett of Phenix; one brother, Butch Hamlett of Gladys; one sister, Joyce Austin of Gladys; two step sisters, Florence English of Spring, TX and Sharon Eisenhardt of Bremmerton, WA; three sisters-in-law, June Hamlett, Rachel Hamlett, and Scottie Hamlett; a brother-in-law, Russell Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, her parents, and her step father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Sublett; a grandson, Justin Winston; three brothers, David, Eddie, and Bobby Hamlett; three sisters, Viola Dagenhart, Ethel Baker and Alice Bellow; two step brothers, Gene and John Greenwell; two step sisters, Hennie Donaldson and Betty Allen; a very special nephew, Bennie (Little Ben) Hamlett.

In lieu of flowers, contributions will be received at Jeffress Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Brookneal.
