Mr. George Edward Barksdale, affectionately known as "Pop" or "Pappa George" age 83 of Nathalie, passed away on June 17, 2024, in Lynchburg.

He was the son of the late Mr. Linwood Barksdale and Mrs. Essie Mae Canada Barksdale.  He was the husband of Mrs. Dorothy Jennings Barksdale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, George Jerome Barksdale; siblings, William Barksdale, Samuel Canada, Wilsey Lee Barksdale, and Zenobia Foster and Catherine Barksdale; and great grandson Todd Clark.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Dorothy Jennings Barksdale of the home; children, Linda Quarles of South Boston, Dr. Debra Barksdale of Greensboro, North Carolina, Brenda Barksdale and Wilma Cousin, both of Nathalie, and Lewis Baker (Demetria) of Rustburg; brother, Lenwood Barksdale of Suffolk, VA; sister, Emma Jean Young of Baltimore, MD; uncle, Roosevelt Barksdale; two aunts, Lorrine Boyd and Marie Jackson; twelve grandchildren, Kevin, Keon (whom he raised), Monique, Latisha, Crystal, Tiffany, Faith (Rodney), Amber (Clif), Shanique, Shanitra, Shaquitta, and Isaiah; ten great-grandchildren, Leondra, Osiris, Kra'Siyah, Tyriq, Amira, Kadence, Brooklyn, Aleena, Asad, and Vera Sage; six great-great grandchildren, Kayson, Keenan, Jaquan, Jr., Ezekiel, Omir, and Mallorie; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
