Horace Samuel Younger, age 89 of Gladys, passed away on February 20, 2026 at his residence. He was the son of the late Robert Younger and Charity Burks Younger.

Horace Samuel Younger departed this life on February 20, 2026 at his residence. He was born on October 23, 1936 to the late Robert Younger and Charity Burks Younger.

In addition to his parents, Papa Rock was preceded in death by his youngest son, Ricky Younger; daughter, Brenda Robertson; his brothers, James, Lorenzo, Rufus and Rollen Younger; sisters, Onnie Poe, Jessie Callaham, Doris Adams, and Geraldine Miller.

Those left to cherish his memories of Papa Rock, his wife of seventy years, Loretta Younger; his children, R. Diane Hubbard, Samuel Younger (Emma), H. Garry Younger (Carrie), and Nina Younger; daughter-in-law, Brenda Younger; seven grandchildren, Patrick, Cedric, Terrence, Samantha, Dallas, Robyn and Bralynn Patterson; thirteen great grandchildren, Zaccheaus Younger, Kannealius Staples, Jeremiah Staples, Mariyiah Staples, Kaiden Younger, Persia Parker, Parrish Parker, Phaysent Parker, Maxie Crews, Jr., Kylei and Kehlani Easley, Amir and Assiah Younger; siblings, Helen Payne, Carroll Younger and Bernice Adams (Ralph); sister-in-law, Bernice Robertson; brothers-in-law, Mckinley Yuille (Charity) and Theodore Yuille; beloved co-workers, Mrs. Cooper, Erica, Cindy, Mr. Myer, Mr. Lee, Willie C. Reafus; and friend, Shorty Waller; beloved dog, Nala; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
