James Edward Brooks, age 78 of Long Island, Virginia passed away on June 25, 2023 in Roanoke, Virginia. He was the son of the late Robert Lee Brooks and Estella Pringle Brooks.

He leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Carlos Braxton (Sharon) and Michael Braxton (Karen), both of Wilmington, NC; three grandsons, Christopher, Kenneth and Gaberiel Braxton; one brother, Thomas Lee Brooks of Lynchburg; two sisters, Linda M. Brooks and Ruby L Hall (Curtis) of Long Island; two aunts, Louise McCrae of New York, NY and Minnie Pearl Flood of Arlington, TX; and a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
