Mr. James Edward Cabler, age 98 of Gladys, passed away on March 10, 2022, in Gretna. He was the son of the late Edward Cabler and Bettie Lynch Cabler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma C. Cabler; stepmother, Harriett Cabler; two granddaughters, Jarmea "Missy" Tucker and Terra Lynn Taylor; three sisters, Rosa Cabler, Ernitha Cabler, and Mattie C. Farmer; four brothers, Charles, Fred, Sr., Matthew and Robert, Sr, Cabler; two sons-in-law, Clarence Dillard and Bernard E. Taylor, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Rev. William "Ned" and Mary H. Calloway.

He is survived by two daughters, Iris C. Taylor and Jernine C. Dillard, both of Gladys; six grandchildren, Monica McDaniel (Thomas), Jason Dillard, Jerron Dillard, Bernard "Sam" Taylor, III, Donovan Taylor and Brandon Taylor (Allison); nine great-grandchildren, Darrius, Kendal, Kirsten, Kandrea, Kayden, Arianne, Daniel, Brendan, and Devin; one great-great-grandson, Kyrie Cabler; one sister, Carrie C. White of Evington; adopted grandson, Braylen Martin, who he called "Lil Waylen"; four sisters-in-law, Catherine Pilson, Vernice Cabler, Sadie Couch and Grace Calloway; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
