James Howard Logan departed this life on Sunday, August 30, 2020. He was the son of Queen Esther & Zebie Dee Logan, and was born on November 2, 1940 in Halifax County, Virginia.
At an early age, he joined the Millstone Baptist Church in Nathalie, Virginia. James loved the Lord and he became an active member of the church and served in many roles. He previously served as the President of the Millstone Young Adult Choir and the Millstone Male Chorus. He also served as President of Trustees. He served as a Deacon at the Millstone Baptist Church and was Chairman of the Deacon Board for many years.
James' first job was with the Halifax County Public School System as a school bus driver. He worked as a bus driver for many years. He then went on to find employment with the Lane Company in Altavista, Virginia, where he worked for many years until the plant closed. He was last employed with Dollar General and worked there several years before he eventually retired. After retiring, he was able to spend more time with his family and could devote more time to his church commitments, duties, and responsibilities.
James was joined in holy matrimony to Ms. Sarah Jones and to this union three children were born, Priscilla, Wanda, and James Jr.
He was preceded in death by his father, Zebie Dee Logan, who was 98 years of age at the time of his death. His mother is still living and currently resides in the Gretna Rehabilitation Center. She is 102 years of age. He leaves to mourn his mother, Queen Esther Logan; wife, Sarah, of the home; two daughters, Wanda Logan and Priscilla Logan-Waller (Roscoe) of Laurel, MD; one son, James Logan, Jr. (Tiffany) of Allen, TX; one devoted sister, Bertha Logan of Nathalie, VA; one grandchild Christina; two deceased twin grandchildren Isabelle and Gabrielle, one living aunt, Ophelia Logan, five sisters-in-law, Virginia Perry of New Haven, CT, Barbara Logan, Evelyn Johnson, Alice Canada, and Emma Guy, all of Nathalie, VA; one brother-in-law, Ronald Guy, of Nathalie, VA; a devoted friend, Joe Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
