James Edwin Roach, age 90 of Brookneal, Virginia, passed away on April 22, 2023 at Centra Health Lynchburg General Hospital. He was a devoted husband for sixty-seven years to Elizabeth N. Roach.

Ed was born on May 9, 1932, the eldest son of Oder and Erna Roach of Charlotte County. He was a graduate of Brookneal High School Class of 1950. He was a Navy Veteran, farmer and retired from B & W NNFD. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Abbey (Paul); and brother, John Aulden Roach.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth N. Roach of Brookneal; sons, David C. Roach (Susan) and Timothy S. Roach, both of Brookneal; daughters, Donna Bradley (Bill) of Lynchburg and Danelle Nutter (Eric) of Barboursville; grandchildren, Amanda R. Short (Thomas) of Nathalie, Melissa C. Roach (Tom) of Cape May, New Jersey, Andrew E. Roach (Liz) of Brookneal,  Autumn B. Enoch ( Ryan) of Nathalie, Tucker K. Burch (Nichole) of Richmond and Josie K. Carwile (Matthew) of Rustburg; great-grandchildren, Estella, Carrington, William, John, Caroline, Raelyn, Bailah, Farmer and Lennox; sister-in-law, Louise Roach; as well as many beloved nieces.

A memorial service will be held on May 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel in Brookneal. The family will receive friends at David and Susan's home afterwards.
