Mr. James Junior "J.J." Scott, age 67, of Rustburg, Va., passed away on March 12, 2018. He was born in Halifax County, on January 9, 1951, to the late Sam Booker and Lona Davis Scott. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary S. Hairston.
"J.J." as most called him was a fun-loving person who made friends and acquaintances everywhere he went. He loved to cook and share with others. He joined the New Shiloh Baptist Church in Nathalie, Va. at an early age. He retired from Griffin Pipe after 25 years , served in the U. S. Marine Reserve, and was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion and the AMF/USBC Bowling League.
He was married to Betty Hamlett Scott for 39 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, William Scott of Nathalie and Leon Scott of Tuskegee, Alabama; a brother-in-law, the Reverend Bobby Hairston of Nathalie; three aunts, Claris Scott of Nathalie, Adell Davis of Brookneal, and Emma Lee Davis of Maryland; six sisters-in-law, Carrie J. Venable and Dolla Bradley of Brookneal, Zoe Bolden (Harold) of Phenix, Jean Mills (Marvin) of Roanoke, Beverly Patterson (Albert) of Gladys, and Mary Buster (Charles) of Nathalie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
James will be missed.
