Mr. James Carter Skates also known as "Bimbo", age 66 of Brookneal, passed away on January 13, 2022 at his residence. He was born on August 9, 1955 to the late Mr. Edward Winston Skates and Mrs. Myrtie Broggin Skates.

In addition to his parents, Bimbo was preceded in death by his brothers, David Skates and Jerry Skates; a sister, Josephine Dews; five brothers-in-law, Jerry Dews, Howard Rose Sr., Roy C. Clark, Bobby Clark, and Wilbert Hancock Jr. and a nephew, Ronald Hancock.

Bimbo joined the Nazareth Baptist Church at an early age.  He was educated in the Charlotte County School System. Bimbo was a career farmer and enjoyed outdoor sporting such as playing baseball, fishing, and especially deer hunting.

He is survived by his children, Kevin Clark (Danielle) of Nathalie, VA  Bonnie Clark (Tyrone) of Brookneal, VA and Kelly Grogan (Mitchell) of Brookneal VA; grandchildren Tyria Clark, De'Monie Wise, De'Kiyah Wise and Amenah Clark; brother, Stanley Skates (Jeanette) of Concord, VA; sisters, Minnie Clark of Lynchburg VA, Dora Rose of Rustburg, VA, Mary Clark (Richard) of Phenix, VA, Lucille Hancock of Brookneal, VA and Ruth Clark of Charlotte Courthouse, VA; sisters-in-law, Shirley Skates of Brookneal, VA, and Margaret Skates of Lynchburg, VA and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
