Josephine Johnson Smith, 75 of Jefferson NC, formerly of Brookneal VA, passed away on March 27th, 2026, at Ashe Memorial Hospital. She was born April 20, 1950, to Emmett Johnson, Sr. and Mary Clay Johnson.

She was preceded in death by husband, Melvin Smith, her parents, and siblings, Emmett "Bunny" Johnson Jr, Lisa Johnson Navarro.

Josephine is survived by daughter, Priscilla Smith; son, Curtis Smith and wife Amanda, all of West Jefferson, NC. grandchildren, Morgan, Curtis, Preslee, Serenity and Milton; and granddog, Diesel; brother, Elvis Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and best friend, Shirley Wright.
