Leroy Edward
Dejarnette
January 27, 1951 – March 29, 2025
LeRoy Edward DeJarnette, Sr., age 74, passed away on March 29, 2025, in Burlington, North Carolina. He was born on January 27, 1951, in Altavista, Virginia.
LeRoy spent much of his life on the road as a proud owner-operator truck driver. With a strong work ethic and an independent spirit, he built a successful career that spanned decades. He took immense pride in maintaining his rig and was known among his peers for his reliability and professionalism. Over the years, he logged countless miles across the roads, navigating all kinds of weather and terrain. Along the way, he formed lasting friendships with fellow drivers who came to respect not only his skill but also his character.
His love for the freedom of the highway was matched only by his dedication to providing for his family. LeRoy's career was more than a job....it was a testament to his commitment to ensuring that those he loved were cared for and secure. He naturally embraced responsibility and led by example, showing what it meant to be hard working and loyal. LeRoy was also a proud participant in Truckers for a Cause, taking part in the parade for many spectators who came to show their support and hope for the cancer community.
At home and in the community, LeRoy was known as a man of strength, kindness, and unwavering integrity. He was generous with both his time and resources....always ready with a helping hand or thoughtful advice. Whether it was offering support during difficult times or simply being present when needed most, LeRoy's steady presence brought comfort to many.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Richard M. Sr. and Sarah Irby DeJarnette; and brothers, Richard M. DeJarnette, Jr. and George A. DeJarnette.
LeRoy is survived by his beloved wife, Connie; children: LeRoy, Jr. (Debbie), Angela Dingler (Jimmy), Tim DeJarnette (Judy), Devon DeJarnette and Jason Perdue (Mary H.); brother, Robert C. DeJarnette; sisters: Barbara Crews (Donnie) and Debra Wright (B.J.); sister-in-law, Velma DeJarnette; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren,
Loved ones will remember him as a good and honorable man . . . a rock of dependability with a big heart whose strength left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him, May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a guiding light for generations to come. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Clover Bottom Baptist Church.
