Obituary

Lindy Smith Miller, of AltaVista, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on his 92nd birthday, September 20, 2025, at Autumn Care of Altavista. He was born September 20, 1933, in Charlotte County, Virginia, to the late Joe Raymond Miller and Effie Thornton Jones Miller.

Lindy is survived by his children, Linda Marie Miller and Rob Ropes of West Point, California; Randy Smith Miller and Brenda Dalton of Altavista, Virginia; and Donnie and Teri Lee Miller of Lynchburg, Virginia. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Doss of Altavista, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Phyllis "Dot" Ridgeway; his father and mother; and two brothers, Joe Raymond Miller Jr. and Clifford Henry Miller.

Lindy dedicated 46 years of his life to the W.S. Frasier Sawmill in Altavista, where he became well known as the best sawyer in Campbell County. His coworkers lovingly referred to him as "the last of the Mohicans," a title that reflected both his skill and his enduring spirit.

As he neared the end of his earthly journey, Lindy looked forward with peace and hope to being with his Savior, Jesus. His memory will be cherished, and his legacy of hard work, love, and faith will live on through all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make your donations to your local chapter of The Gideons International.
