Mary Elizabeth Evans Elam, age 82 of South Boston, passed away on March 4, 2024 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Arthur T. Evans, Sr. and Maggie Gaines Evans.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Elam, Sr.; two children, Cynthia Elam and Floyd Elam, Jr.; one sister, Melissa Hardy; four brothers, James Evans, Clifford Evans, Arthur Evans, Jr., and Russell Evans.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry Elam (Linda) of Evington, Virginia and Keith Elam (Reva) of Halifax, Virginia; daughters, Janice Tucker and Phyllis Elam, both of Halifax, and Magaline Barley of Gladys; granddaughter, Natalie Elam of Halifax, that she raised as her own; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; step-mother, Isabel Evans of Charlotte Court House; sisters, Alberta Miller and Nadine Evans, both of Charlotte Court House, Gale Bolden (McKinley) and Regina Evans (Jeremiah), both of Brookneal, Sylvia Waller (Garry) of Keysville and Rochelle Hancock (Calvin) of Phenix; sisters-in-law, Joyce Evans and Helen Price (George) of Brookneal; brothers-in-law, Hildred Hardy of North Carolina and Linwood Elam of Brookneal; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
