Mr. Melvin Dean Smith, age 75, of Jefferson, North Carolina passed away on January 14, 2023.  He was born in Seattle, Washington on August 5, 1947 and was the son of Maxine Warren Smith and Woodrow Smith.  He was married to Josephine J. Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Smith.

He is survived by his son, Curtis D. Smith (Amanda) and daughter, Priscilla Smith, both of West Jefferson, NC; and grandchildren, Curtis W., Preslee D., Serenity R., and Morgan.
