Mrs. Ollie Mae Smith of Brookneal departed this earth on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on September 2, 1932, to the late Mr. Curneal Yuille and the late Mrs. Annie Yuille.
Ollie joined the St Luke Bapt Church at an early age. She was a devoted, dedicated and faithful member of the church. Ollie was an active member of the choir and served on the usher board for many years. For several years, she also sang with the Hat Creek Baptist Church's choir. One of her favorite songs was "Come by here, Lord" and scripture Psalms 23. Ollie loved visiting and talking with family and friends. She was honored with the NAACP Humanitarian Award in 1998. Through many life challenges, her love and faith in God carried her through. Ollie's love, strength and dedication will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her parents, Ollie was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Goldsberry Smith; brothers, Clayton Yuille and Maynard Yuille; ans sister, Mrs. Josie Whitson.
Ollie is survived by her eleven children, Virginia Brogden (late Samuel), Katie Gaines, Anna Yuille, Roger Smith (Tammy), Pastor John Smith (late Diane), Barbara Garrett (Van), Mary Reggans (Kevin), Jeanette Skates (Stanley), Michael Smith, Thomas Smith and Denise Smith; brothers, Rev. Leonard Yuille and Henry Yuille (Minister Brenda); sisters, Phyllis Hubbard (Robert), Shirley Yuille and Frances Dyke; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
