Mrs. Rachel Boyd Pannell , age 66, of South Boston, passed away on May 1, 2021 in Lynchburg.  She was the wife of Mr. Bruce  Pannell and the daughter of Mrs. Alice Venable Boyd and the late Mr. James E. Boyd.

In addition to her father, Rachel was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Lee Tucker Kirby and her father-in-law, Mr. James Pannell, Sr.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Pannell of the home; six loving children, Angela Sims, Tanya Harris and Tonya Harris Roberts, all of South Boston, Howard Harris of Lawrenceville, NC, LaQuinton Johnson of Statesville, NC and Sean Hill of South Carolina; six sisters, Ann Boyd Reid (William) of Fredericksburg, VA, Mary Boyd Jones (Roy) of Halifax, VA, Eileen Dennie (Allen) of Dumfries, VA, Barbara Majors and Gayle Sydnor (Wayne) all of Stafford, VA and Deborah Forest (Russell) of Nathalie, VA; four sisters-in-law, Georgia Lovelace, Janet Lee Gregory, Linda Lou Berger and Evelyn Pannell, all of South Boston, VA; two brothers-in-law, Waverly Pannell (Jacqueline) of South Boston and Charles Pannell of Brookneal, VA; one aunt, Willie Mae Terry of Brookneal, VA; a very devoted niece and caregiver, Angela Henrriquez; and a host of other relatives and friends.
