She was married to the late Grasher Leon Johnson.

She retired after 38 years of service, which included 33 years in the Halifax County Public Schools and five years in the Denver Colorado Public Schools. During her tenure, she was very active in the Halifax Education Association (HEA), the Virginia Education Association (VEA), and the National Education Association (NEA), serving as a delegate to conventions in many states and fun places.  Regina was also a member of the Halifax Women Jaycees.
