God, in His infinite wisdom, took from earth to Heaven, our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend – Richard Thomas Boyd on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Richard Thomas Boyd was born April 6, 1948 in Nathalie, VA to the late Richard Thornton Boyd and the late Annie Maude Jennings Boyd. At an early age he professed his faith in Christ and joined the New Second Buffalo Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until he health began to fail.
He was educated in the Halifax County Public School System. He gained employment with Archer Creek/Lynchburg Foundry, Lynchburg, VA and remained there until his retirement. In later years, he worked for the Halifax Public School System.
Richard loved antique cars and trucks which led him to visit car shows frequently. He could also be found listening to good music and at times dancing when the mood hit.
Early in his adulthood, Richard met and married Virginia Brown and to this union two children were born.
Richard was not only preceded in death by his parents, but also by four brothers, Leroy, Louis, Willie Lee, and Roger; and one sister, Annie Margaret Miller.
Richard leaves to mourn is precious memories: one son; Darrell Boyd of the home; two daughters, Alvina Boyd of Lynchburg, VA, Chemkiah Marie Payne-Rodriguez of Lynchburg, VA; nine grandchildren, Jordan, Jalen, Dejour, Devante, Zariah, Devon, Diamond, Daytron, and Neimijah; eight great grandchildren, two brothers; Lawrence Boyd of Nathalie, VA and Bernard Boyd of Lynchburg, VA; two sisters, Minnie Clark of Nathalie, VA and Melissa Hopkins of Jamaica, NY; devoted nieces, Martha Coles (Curtis) and Nancy Starkley (Jimmy); devoted friends, Eugene Smith, James "Dickie" Tune, James Willie Boyd, and Albert Hunter, Dea. Frank Waller, Larry Coles, and many more. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
