Mr. Richard Oliver Elder, age 73 of Brookneal, passed away on September 8, 2022 in Charlottesville.  He was the son of the late Charlie Wilson Elder, Sr. and Edna King Elder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Faye Elder; and brother, Charlie Wilson Elder, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Conners Elder of Brookneal; sister, Mary Elder Smith of Brookneal; nieces, Cynthia Jennings of Gladys and Donna Waller of Phenix; nephew, Matthew Elder of Brookneal; sister-in-law, Peggy Conners Elliott of Brookneal; and a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
