Robert lee Jones, Sr., age 79 of Halifax, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Forest Health and Rehab in Lynchburg, Virginia. Born on November 16, 1944, in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Alonzo Allen Jones and Eliza Clark Jones Lenning.

Robert retired from Halifax County School Board Maintenance Dept. He loved to fish. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed making his family and friends laugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ceola Smith Jones; four brothers James, Joe, John and William Jones; five sisters, Mary Carr, Fannie Lewis, Elizabeth Womack, Emma Henry, and Estelle Kirby.

Robert is survived by three children, Robert Lee Jones, Jr. of Lynchburg, Joe Allen Jones of Halifax and Jennet Teresa Jones (John) of South Boston; four grandchildren, LaMorris Jones, Taneisha Venable, LaMoria Jones, and Ja'Nashia Jones; four great-grandchildren, Sha-Niyah Jones, Ziyahna Venable, Kyheim Penick, and Kamryn Jones; three sisters, Catherine Dunkley, Annie Barksdale, and Margaret Pounds; two brothers, Douglas Jones and Jessie Jones; uncle, James Clark of Brookneal, Virginia; three brothers-in-law, Eugene Smith of Crystal Hill, Virginia, Fred Womack of Richmond, Virginia, and John Kirby of South Boston, Virginia; sister-in-law, Virginia Jones of South Boston; two devoted friends, Judy Ann Hancock and Amos Farrar Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
