Rosa
Moore
July 10, 1938 – September 17, 2021
Annie Rosa Moore, lovingly referred to as "Rosa" by her family and friends, transitioned from this life into the arms of our Heavenly Father on September 17, 2021.
Rosa was born July 10, 1938, to the late Deacon John Johns and Annie A. Johns of Randolph, Virginia. She was the oldest of two daughters born to this union. She attended the public school in Charlotte County and graduated from Central High School in 1956. Upon graduation, she attended Virginia State College in Petersburg, Virginia then moved to Montclair, New Jersey to seek employment. For over 20 years she worked as a legal secretary for the Department of Law and Public Safety/Bureau of Security, a branch of the Attorney General Office in Newark, New Jersey.
In 1982 she moved back to Charlotte County to assist in caring for her father who was ill. Shortly thereafter, Rosa united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Deacon Floyd Moore, of Brookneal, Virginia on May 7, 1983, and embraced four daughters into her life. Mutual love and respect between her and the four daughters remained throughout her life.
Rosa found Christ at an early age and joined Aspen Hill Baptist Church in Charlotte County. Upon her return home, Rosa renewed her church membership where she served faithfully as the church clerk for over 20 years and as a member of the Senior Choir. She also shared her piano playing abilities serving as the pianist for the Spring Hill Baptist Church Senior Choir where her husband was the Chairman of the Deacon Board. She enjoyed cross stitching, cooking, reading, and spending time with family.
Left to cherish her memory are a loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Floyd Moore; four daughters, Letha Moore-Jones (Bruce) of Glen Allen, VA; Audrey, Wanda "Gale", and Rev. Rita Moore of Williamsburg, VA; four grandchildren, Brittany, Kelsie, and Cameron Jones, and Tiana Moore. One sister: Martha Ellis of Montclair, NJ; five sisters-in-law: Lizzie Robinson of Roanoke, VA; Elvira Johns of Williamsburg, VA; Marylin "Louise" Randolph (Curtis) of Newport News, VA; Dorothy Moore of Greensboro, NC; Inez Moore of Lynchburg, VA; a best friend of many years, Helen Price; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and supportive friends.
