Mr. Russell Wilson Copeland, Sr. age 73 of Appomattox, passed away on December 31, 2020 at his residence. He was the son of the late Mr. George Albert Copeland and Mildred Topps Copeland.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Gannie, Ray, Lawrence, Clarence, Joe, George, and Wayne; two sisters, Mary and Francis.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer Copeland of Brookneal, Master Sergeant Russell Wilson Copeland, Jr. of Fort Polk, LA, Natasha Thornton of Lynchburg, Mildred Reed of Brookneal, Rusty Reed of Madison Heights, Felicia Reed of Spout Spring, Joseph Reed of Farmville, Clarence Copeland of the home, and Mary Copeland of Lynchburg; one brother, Joshua Copeland (Nellie) of Charlotte Court House; one sister, LaVelma Myers of Maryland; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher Copeland, Marcus Copeland, Ashley Thornton, Braylen Hunter, Zurionne Wright, Zemarius Reed, Londyn Reed, Paris Reed, Brianna Jennings, Jerrami Kelso, Christian Gray, Lamar Copeland, Dominic Kelso, and Ayla Bright; two great-grandchildren, CJ Copeland and Taylor Marie Copeland; his caregiver, Yvonne Crawley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
