Ryland Levan
Robinson
September 23, 1949 – December 18, 2024
Ryland Levan Robinson, age 75 of Appomattox, passed away on December 18, 2024 at his residence. He was the son of the late Willie Coleman Robinson and Mary Ella Robinson. He was affectionately called "Bunkie" or "Uncle Bunk" by many of his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Yolanda L. Thomas; brothers, Willie Robinson, Charlie Robinson, Joe Louis Robinson, and Samuel "Bill" Robinson; sisters, Annabelle Williams, Hallie Wheeler, Louise Haskins, and Geraldine Robinson.
Ryland had a clear vision of what he wanted and pursued it with all his might. His strong will and determination helped him achieve many things. After living in New York and Maryland for many years, he came back to his hometown of Appomattox to settle down, start over, and make a life for himself. Once he bought his first truck, he never looked back. He enjoyed being on the road spending countless hours and days by himself. He often talked about various routes he took across the country. Not only was he successful in trucking, he was also quite prosperous in farming. He was a hard worker who often acknowledged and supported the hard work of others.
We all knew he had a mind of his own and he wasn't afraid to let us know, but he loved his family. He especially loved Katrina and his grandbabies. He taught us the importance of standing up for what we believe in even when it is difficult. He was a unique individual forging his path and staying true to his own beliefs. While we will miss his presence, we hold on to the memories and special moments we shared.
He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Hamlett Jefferson (Roland) of Columbus, Ohio; two granddaughters, Katrina Watts of Stafford, Virginia, and Sharnis Smith of Baltimore, Maryland; one grandson, Bryant Forest of Red House, Virginia; one great-granddaughter, Maniah Hamlett and two great-grandsons, Mattias Watts and Misael Watts all of Stafford, Virginia; brothers, Larry Robinson (Roslyn) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Ronnie Leon Robinson of Appomattox, Virginia, Enoch Robinson (Juanita); sisters, Minnie Haskins, Joyce Robinson, and Annette Baker (William) all of Appomattox, Virginia; sister in law Velma Robinson of Evergreen, Virginia; devoted friends, Lloyd Williams, Walter Harvey, Wilbur Johnson, Eva Johnson, and neighbor Artis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
