November 6, 1946 – December 4, 2024
Brookneal – Scottie Marie Carwile Hamlett, 78, devoted mother, sister, grandmother and "Granny Ma" to her great grandchildren, entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, while in the wonderful care at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
She was born in Campbell County on November 6, 1946, daughter of the late Garnett Merle Carwile and Lois Mutter Carwile. She was of Christian Faith and a lifetime caregiver for her son Ben, she was also a retired para legal and title examiner for Campbell County and the surrounding counties.
Those left to celebrate her memory are three of her four children, Garnett Hamlett of Gladys, Paula Holland (Kenny Ray) of Gladys and Jesse Hamlett (Kelly) of Evington; three sisters, Cheryl Swint, Ree Carwile (Dale) and Kath Carwile; a sister-in-law Joyce Austin and a brother-in-law Butch Hamlett; Eight grandchildren – Jessica, Nicolette, Lauren (Jamar), Corinne, David, Brannon, Gavin and Xander; five great-grandchildren – Ayden, Wyatt, Hayven, Roman, Nehemiah and two future great - grandchildren, Holden and Corbin; and a host of nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Dianne Collins and Lona Younger.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life David Hubert Hamlett and her miracle son, Ben Hamlett. As well as her sweet mother-in-law, Ellie Greenwell.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall Nursing Home for the care that was given to our mama over the last couple of years as well as the staff at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital for the loving care they gave our mama while she was there until her passing into eternity to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She will be missed by so many but she leaves behind a beautiful legacy for us to all cherish, which is that of loving the Lord with all your heart, serving Him, love your family and love your friends.
