Deaconess Shirley Robinson Thornton, age 73 of Red House, passed away on June 3, 2024 in Lynchburg. She was the daughter of the late Frank Robinson and Julia Jennings Robinson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Edward Thornton; brothers, Bobby, MacArthur, John and Franklin Robinson; sisters, Sylvia Mitchell and Diane Eubanks; one step son-in-law, James Dews.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, two daughters, Toni Brogdon and Teresa Brogden (David) of Red House; son, Tyrone Brogdon (Lisa, daughter-in-law) of Essex, MD; four step children, Evelyn Dews of Pamplin, Debra Thornton (Vince), Margie Thornton and Edward Thornton, Jr, all of Red House; three grandchildren, Tyrone Brogdon, Jr., Clay and Quarmaine Brogden of Essex, MD; step grandchildren, Stanley Hamlett, Natasha, Antione, Erica and Stephanie Thornton; devoted sister, Julia Dews of Monroe, VA; step sister, Lottie Mae Otey; sisters-in-law, Nannie Robinson and Mary Isabelle Robinson; devoted friends, Ms. Bernice Pannell and Mrs. Alice Scott; and a host of other relatives and friends.
