Sylvester Young, age 90 of Farmville, passed away on November 8, 2024 at his residence. He was the son of the late James Young and Ida Bowie Young. He was the husband of the late Mary Womack Young.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Womack Young; six sisters, Helen, Doris, Evelyn Young, Jane Doe, Marie Thompson, and Thelma Garner; three brothers, James, Francis and Joseph Young; and son-in-law, Robert Gould.

He is survived by his five children, Joanne Gould, Sean Smith Sr., Michael Young (Alexandria), Clifford Womack (Arlene), Jean Womack Cook (Eric); five grandchildren, Lyneese Cruz, Paris Young, Sean Smith Jr., Sydney Young Awoudi, and Brandon Womack; two great-grandchildren, Neyko and Harper; his last remaining sibling, Thomas (Tommy) Young; brother-in-law, Bruce Johnson; sisters-in-law, Clara Johnson and Bernice Redd; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
