Mrs. Thelma Mae Hancock, age 85 of Appomattox, passed away on September 2, 2022 in Appomattox. She was the daughter of the late William Austin and Mable Wheeler Austin.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, William "Sonny" Hancock, Jr.; her parents; two brothers, Colonel Austin and Samuel Austin; three sisters, Mary Nelson, Dorothy Pannell, and Alice Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Michael Hancock of Lynchburg, David Hancock of Appomattox, and Todd Hancock (Erin) of Woodbridge, Virginia; two grandsons, Marcus and Kendall Hancock; one brother, Earl Austin of Appomattox, Virginia; five sisters, Louise Davis of Baltimore, Maryland, Helen Walker of Appomattox, Virginia, Frances McIvor of Appomattox, Virginia, Patricia Jordan of Baltimore Maryland, and Nancy Hancock of Appomattox, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Zenobia Austin; one brother-in-law, Jessie Hancock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, bestie Lorraine Booker , and friends.
