FAMILY OBITUARY AND LIFE REFLECTIONS OF THE LATE VIRGINIA PAULINE GILES HASKINS

Virginia Pauline Giles Haskins, 2 nd youngest daughter of the late James Giles and Estelle Smith Giles was born March 15, 1926 in Amelia County, VA.  Virginia peacefully transitioned from earthly labor to heavenly eternal reward on October 27, 2020.

At a tender age, Virginia along with all siblings was baptized at Mount Level Baptist Church in Amelia County, VA under the pastoral leadership of Rev. E. E. Hicks.  During this time, Virginia developed and embraced the attributes of spiritual gifts regarding leadership, hospitality, faith, and evangelism.   Often Virginia would share and tell her father's belief of his daughters not working on the farm but completed their days work in the home, and along with gardening.  She completed her education in Amelia County Public Schools.

As a young child growing up with her siblings, Virginia loved their attention.  Her brother Arthur joined the United States Military, and brother Eddie Morris (Bubba) relocated to New Jersey. After the death of father James her mother Estelle, Virginia along with sisters, Rosa, and Anna relocated to Richmond, VA to join sisters Dorothy and Elnora. During this transition time, Virginia joined Fifth Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Anderson which is currently located 1415 Cary Street Richmond, VA under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Earl Brown.

While living in Richmond, Ms. Virginia married Lloyd Williams, Sr. and from their union two sons, Lloyd (Ed Jr.) Jr., and Stanley Williams.  Virginia worked in her home taking care of her sons along with taking care of her own health needs.  She remarried and relocated to Saxe, VA with late husband James Wendell Haskins.

Mrs. Haskins gained employment with Russell Stover Candies. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, cooking, making homemade rolls, crafts, and traveling.  Many times Virginia would send family members canned foods, and embodied handkerchiefs.

Virginia and Wendall joined Salem Baptist Church located in Red Oak, VA where she remained a faithful member until her passing along with being considered the "Mother of the Church". Virginia served under the church leadership of Deaconess, president of the Missionary Circle for many years to include roles of Head of vacation bible school director.  Mrs. Haskins was instrumental in the planning and implementation of the current church.  Mr. and Mrs. Haskins organized the men's church chorus. Ms. Virginia always had a loving heart for the little children and kept lollipops in her pocketbook to give after church services.

Mrs. Haskins was affectionately known to her family members as "Baby Sis", "Aunt Virginia", "Big Ma", and "Ms. Virginia".
