William Joseph Davis, age 72 of Lynchburg, passed away on August 23, 2023 in Lynchburg. He was the son of the late Hubert A. Davis and Savannah Graham Davis. He was married to Louise Cobbs Davis.

Born in Charlotte County, VA, William was the son of the late Hubert A. and Savannah G. Davis. He attended Randolph Henry High School, where he participated in track and field and football. William was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, making items for his family, and working on cars.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert A. and Savannah G. Davis; a sister; Elizabeth Ann Furrowh; and a brother, Hubert A. Davis Jr.

He is survived by his wife Louise; one son by marriage, Derek Cobbs (Frances); two grandsons, Derek Jr. and Wesley; one brother Charlie Davis (Donna); one sister, JoAnn Hamlette; one sister-in-law, Vivian Davis; a special Godson; Jared James Pannell; two uncles and two aunts; a host of nieces and nephews, whom he held a great affection for; special neighborhood friends, Floyd Elliot and Amos Morris; and additional family members.
