Zelma Marie DeJarnette Smith, age 81 of Nathalie, Virginia, passed away on August 16, 2026 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Roy DeJarnette and Leola Jennings DeJarnette. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Thelma DeJarnette, and Eugene Roy DeJarnette (Jesse Mae).

She is survived by her children, Andrea' DeJarnette (Teresa), Davita Smith, Exer "Neicy" Jefferson (Thornell) and Sharnita Smith; grandchildren, Emmanuel, Danielle, Norman, Darrius, Jackie, Brianna and Brosnan; eight great grandchildren; her siblings, Oneza Jones, Willie Thomas DeJarnette, Ollie Mae Chambers, Dorothy Burke, Betty Ann DeJarnette, and Gaynell DeJarnette; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, church family and friends.
