February 2, 1933 – August 1, 2013
Roosevelt Robinson of Nathalie, VA departed this life on August 1, 2013 at his residence at the age of eighty. He was born on February 2, 1933 to the late James and Annie Word Robinson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Will and James Robinson, and three sisters, Cornealia, Martha, and Margaret.
He accepted Christ at an early age. Mr. Robinson was ordained as a deacon of the New Second Buffalo Baptist Church in March of 1977. He was also an active member of the Male Chorus and Senior Choir. In 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He later retired from Thomasville Furniture Company.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nora B. Robinson. To this union nine children were born: Raymond Robinson (Joyce) of Peoria, IL, Larry Robinson of the home, Wilbert Robinson of Columbus, OH, Carolyn Robinson of Nathalie, VA, Michael Robinson (Andrea) of Beckley, WV, Stanley Robinson (Stephanie) of South Boston, VA, Norma Tanner (Eric) of Lynchburg, VA, Vickie Walker (Eric) of Columbus, OH, and Christy Robinson of Atlanta, GA; twelve grandchildren: Kevin, Naomi, Jernaya', Alicia, Brian, Eric, Leron, Vanessa, Mekayla, Rayshon, Keyonna, and Kameron; and one great grandson, Rallo. He also leaves to cherish precious memories three sisters, Betty Harris, Dolly A. Brogdon (Wesley) both of Lynchburg, and Edith Barksdale of Gretna, VA; two sister in-laws, Bernice Robinson of Gretna, Va, Esther (Sam) Thornton; one brother in-law, Samuel (Lina) Burks of Crestview, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends including his special friends, John Arthur Anderson, Hilton Walker, Lewis Robertson, Lawrence Boyd, and Frank Lee Waller, and a devoted nephew, David Lee Robinson. Roosevelt was a good man and loved by many. He loved his family and enjoyed helping others. He will forever be in our hearts.
